Someone asked me last week if I was a blogger.

I didn’t know how to answer. Mainly because while I am in possession (like 99% of the wired world) of a blog thing, I haven’t written in it in a while.

Which is sort of stupid. Because in that time I’ve traveled to Amsterdam, Prague, Buenos Aires, and cosmopolitan Richmond, VA. I’ve been making stuffs. I’m sure I’ve had one or two intelligent thoughts, maybe.

And yet, I’m silent. A bright, shiny object must’ve distracted me.

For what it’s worth, I may just abandon the Observations format. Maybe I’ll turn this into a music blog, or a digital-Youtube-mixtape blog, or a I’m-fucking-bored-and-need-to-do-something-other-than-read-the-newyorktimesonline-in-the-morning-and-get-angry-angry-ANGRY in the morning blog. Maybe.

For now, if anyone’s still looking, I’m still alive. And just as… whatever it is I am… as ever.

Chances are, if I haven’t seen you since highschool, I don’t need to know how many centimeters dilated you are.

Observation 51: It’s time to evaluate my priorities.

Today, at 7PM, at work, the fire alarm went off.

And then it kept going off. For 20 minutes.

What did I do?

I continued to dilligently write the zit cream copy I’d been putting off all day.

And when the fire trucks’ sirens started to whirr outside? And the fire marshall came over the intercom to state that we should remain calm while they investigated?

I kept writing the zit cream copy.

And then I had a breakthrough:

Either the fire drills of my youth were counter-productive, or I need a new life. ASAP.

Observation 50: It’s been a while since Facebook made any significant changes to its format.

Clearly, this is why the nation paid attention to the strife in Iran for all of a week.

And the crisis of Michael Jackson for, oh, I don’t know, however the hell long it’s been now.

Neglect of structural updates to Facebook = people bored enough to pay attention to other stuff.

That’s why I’ve taken to doing a bit of freelance music writing in addition to the 60+ hours a week I spend doing salary-based advertising copywriting. Go figure.
